Celebration of Dreams November 21 2014

As we approach the first anniversary of publishing the Hailey’s Dream Princess Books, there is no better way to celebrate than with an event…or two.

  • Tomorrow my husband and I will man a booth at a local Durham Region Bookapalooza event to raise as much as possible for Hailey’s Dreams by selling more books.
  • Last weekend, Lauren and I attended the INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair to help get some added exposure for the Hailey’s Dreams books.

To help with the excitement around our booth at Bookapalooza, Dairy Queen Canada has graciously given us three gift cards (one for $100 and two for $25) to be used as prizes in a draw at the Bookapalooza event tomorrow, Sat., Nov. 22 to help with Hailey's Dreams!

Win one of three DQ gift cards = $100 or $25The books will be on sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. If you order online before 3:45 on Saturday, we will add three tickets into the draw. This will allow others to be included in the draw for the DQ gift cards from a distance. You are welcome to follow us on Twitter @NovelConcepts or @BeNovel using #RollnRead for ways to increase your chances of winning.

If you are close enough to attend, you will find us at booth 52. Look for the blue and purple balloons! The event is being held at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, 2000 Simcoe St. N, Oshawa. http://uoit.ca/maps/print/NorthOshawaCampusMap.pdf

As you know, the story of how the local Dairy Queen in Fredericton helped to raise $11,000 for Hailey is included in The Princess of Freddy Beach. Many thanks to the local Dairy Queen and the Canadian headquarters for their support!

Inspiration at INSPIRE!

While attending a workshop at INSPIRE! I learned about the IBBY collection of books now available at the Toronto Public Library. The IBBY international collection was moved from Norway to Toronto earlier this year. Basically they are books for and about young people with disabilities. The stories are there to educate and inspire readers. They are about inclusion, acceptance and understanding. It's a fantastic collection that takes many disabilities into consideration (written in many different languages) and provides teachers and parents with some amazing tools for learning.

I'm hoping you'll comment on the value of Hailey's Dreams Princess Books to individuals and the community so we can have the books added to the circulation for libraries to use together with the latest IBBY collection. If you have been inspired by Hailey's story, please send or add a comment on how or share with us how her story has touched students or members of your family. You can comment on Facebook or on today’s blog post on the Hailey’s Dreams Princess Books website.

Thank you for your well-wishes for Hailey and I hope to hear from you soon!
